Biography
Tuia, artistic name of Luis Gustavo Lencioni Pereira, was born in Jacareí, in the interior of São Paulo, on October 28, 1973. He is a singer, songwriter, and acoustic guitarist, who began his prominent trajectory in the Brazilian music scene in the early 1990s as a member of the band Dotô Jéka. With this group, a pioneer in the fusion between rock and caipira music, he achieved national projection and obtained sales success with reinterpretations such as the classic song by Renato Teixeira, making appearances on important television programs of the time.
After his years with Dotô Jéka and parallel projects like Tuia e os Transmissores, the artist consolidated his solo career starting in the 2000s. He released relevant works such as the 2009 live album, the record Jardim Invisível in 2013, and the album Reverso Folk in 2016, deepening his artistic identity in the strand of folk music and roots pop rock.
In his most recent trajectory, Tuia has remained active with the release of new singles, such as "Hortelã e Café" in 2024, which reaffirms his versatility in moving through folk pop rock and MPB. His work dialogues with the rich caipira tradition of the Paraíba Valley, renewing sonorities and keeping the essence of Brazilian regional music alive in the contemporary circuit.
