Biography

A Turma da Pilantragem was a Brazilian musical group formed in 1968 by Nonato Buzar, as part of the cultural movement known as Pilantragem. The group was born after the success of Buzar's compositions, such as "Carango", which established him as one of the great exponents of the genre alongside names like Carlos Imperial. The initial lineup featured various musicians and singers, including Pedrinho Rodrigues, Cassiano and Edinho Trindade, releasing their self-titled debut album in 1968.

In 1969, following significant changes to its composition, the group underwent a reform that integrated renowned instrumentalists such as José Roberto Bertrami, Alex Malheiros and Raul de Souza, reflecting a striking instrumental sound. In this phase, they recorded a second self-titled album and the record "A Turma da Pilantragem Internacional". The collective maintained its activities until its final dissolution in 1970.

The group's trajectory deeply intersects with the development of Brazilian music branches such as samba-jazz and samba-rock. The tenure of its members across different lineups solidified the historical importance of A Turma da Pilantragem within the country's musical scene of that era.
