Biography

Tutti Frutti is a legendary Brazilian rock band formed in the early 1970s in the Pompeia neighborhood of São Paulo. The group gained enormous national prominence by becoming the backing band for singer Rita Lee after her departure from the group Os Mutantes, profoundly marking the history of Brazilian rock with energetic arrangements and participation in fundamental albums of Brazilian music.

Throughout their partnership with Rita Lee between 1973 and 1978, led mainly by guitarist Luiz Sérgio Carlini, the band recorded masterpieces such as Atrás do Porto Tem uma Cidade and the acclaimed Fruto Proibido, the latter considered one of the greatest albums in the history of music in Brazil. Among the major hits scored by the group are striking tracks like "Ovelha Negra", "Agora Só Falta Você", "Esse Tal de Roque Enrow" and "Mamãe Natureza", consolidating the ensemble's sound on the charts and the stages of historic festivals.

Following Rita Lee's separation and Carlini's departure from the joint project, the band went through various reformulations over the following decades, featuring stints by different vocalists and instrumentalists. Even with lineup changes and periods of lesser activity, Tutti Frutti kept its legacy alive through returns to the stage and new incarnations led by Carlini, continuing to perform actively in the Brazilian rock scene.
