Biography
Tuyo is a Brazilian musical trio formed in 2016 in Curitiba, Paraná, born out of the dissolution of the musical group Simonami. The band is composed of vocalists and musicians Lilian Soares (Lio), Layane Soares (Lay), and Jean Machado. Their distinctive sound blends synthetic elements, folk, and soul, characterized by intimate and subjective compositions that explore themes of human connection, adult melancholy, and emotional fragility.
The group released their debut studio album, Pra Curar, in 2018, which was critically acclaimed and featured on several year-end best-of lists. In 2021, Tuyo gained international recognition when The New York Times highlighted their performance at the virtual SXSW festival as one of the best of the event. Later that year, they released their double album Chegamos Sozinhos em Casa, which earned a Latin Grammy nomination for Best Portuguese Language Contemporary Pop Album. Throughout their career, they have collaborated with notable Brazilian artists such as Baco Exu do Blues, Lenine, Terno Rei, and Pitty.
Following their success, the trio continued to expand their discography with releases like the EP Depois da Festa and their third studio album, Paisagem, in 2024. They have also contributed to film soundtracks and performed at major Brazilian music festivals such as Lollapalooza Brasil. Tuyo remains a unique voice in the contemporary Brazilian music scene, bridging electronic elements and organic folk-pop sensibilities.
