Biography

Umas e Outras was a female vocal trio formed in 1970, consisting of singers Regininha, Dorinha Tapajós, and Málu Ballona. The members already had musical experience, having been part of the group "A Turma da Pilantragem", conceived by Nonato Buzar. The proposal to form the trio came from André Midani and Armando Pittigliani, from the Philips record label, who saw potential in continuing the partnership among the three artists.

In the same year of its formation, the trio released the LP "Poucas e Boas", produced by Nelson Motta. The album featured songs by renowned composers such as Joyce, Vinicius de Moraes, Nelson Angelo, Ivan Lins, and Marcos Valle, and stood out for its elaborate vocal arrangements. Some tracks from the record, like "Pigmaleão 70" and "Ondas Médias", were included in TV Globo telenovela soundtracks, increasing the group's visibility.

In 1971, the trio Umas e Outras disbanded. Regininha and Málu Ballona pursued solo careers, while Dorinha Tapajós joined the group Quarteto em Cy. Despite its short duration, the work of Umas e Outras left a mark on Brazilian music, especially due to its vocal quality and repertoire selection, which reflected the effervescence of MPB at the time.
