Umberto Silva was a Brazilian composer and singer known for his romantic style, with a repertoire that mainly included boleros and tangos. His musical career began in the mid-1950s, with compositions recorded by various renowned artists of the era.

Among his most notable works, collaborations with other composers stand out, resulting in songs that achieved success. In 1957, his samba "Vieram me contar", in partnership with Ari Monteiro, was recorded by Odete Amaral. The following year, Linda Batista performed "Feijoada completa", a collaboration with Mary Monteiro. One of his biggest hits was the bolero "Ninguém é de ninguém", composed in partnership with Toso Gomes and Luis Mergulhão, which became a major hit in the voice of Cauby Peixoto.

Throughout his career, Umberto Silva had more than twenty songs recorded by artists such as Cauby Peixoto, Silvio Silva, Carlos José, Linda Batista, and Odete Amaral.
