Biography

The Grêmio Recreativo Cultural Social Escola de Samba Unidos do Peruche, better known as Unidos do Peruche, is one of the most traditional samba schools in Brazil, founded on January 4, 1956, in the city of São Paulo. Its origin dates back to a group of friends who participated in the Lavapés samba school and decided to found their own association in Parque Peruche. Known as "the samba branch," the school proudly displays the colors green, yellow, blue, and white on its flag, the same as the Brazilian flag.

Unidos do Peruche has a rich history in São Paulo's carnival, having been a three-time champion of the special group in the 1960s. After a period of decline, the school underwent a revitalization process, especially starting in 1985, through exchanges with carnival designers from Rio de Janeiro, which elevated the quality of its floats and costumes. The association also stands out for its team of renowned composers and performers, such as Jamelão, Quinho do Salgueiro, and Eliana de Lima, who have brightened its journey.

The samba school is not limited only to parades, but also develops social and cultural projects for the community, such as the percussion school, which aims at the musical education of children. Unidos do Peruche is a symbol of tradition and resistance in São Paulo's samba scene, keeping alive the passion for carnival and Brazilian popular culture, with strong ties to artists like Eliana de Lima and Jamelão.
