Biography

Sinval Martins da Cruz, artistically known as Val Martins, was born in Timóteo, Minas Gerais, on February 12, 1966. He began his artistic journey in childhood, accompanying his father, who was a seresteiro, through the regions of Minas Gerais. In the 1980s, he moved to Espírito Santo, where he gained notoriety playing at dances, before relocating to Rio de Janeiro at the end of the decade to work in the nightlife scene and accompany singer Sidney Magal.

Throughout his career, Val Martins established himself as a versatile producer, songwriter, keyboardist, and audio engineer, working in the studio with major names in Brazilian music, such as Xuxa, Fagner, Kiko Zambianchi, and LS Jack. Under the sponsorship of businesswoman Marlene Mattos, he joined the famous band Yahoo alongside musicians like Robertinho do Recife. After converting to Protestantism at age twenty-seven, he directed his talent toward gospel music, releasing standout records like "O Encontro" and winning the Revelation Artist award at the Troféu Talento in 1996.

Even facing vocal challenges that kept him away from lead vocals for a few years—a period during which he continued working with the band Yahoo and participating in award-winning projects like "Xuxa Só Para Baixinhos"—Val recovered his voice and resumed his solo Christian career. Later, he expanded his musical activities by forming the superband KSLV alongside Lenilton, Sérgio Knust, and Marcos Kinder, in addition to continuing to produce actively and releasing digital works, such as the album "Mais Que o Sol" and the EP "Viver Pra Ti".
