Biography
Valéria Aparecida Barros, born in Uberlândia, Minas Gerais, is a singer and songwriter with a significant career in Brazilian sertanejo music. She began her artistic career in childhood at the age of nine, forming the duo As Mineirinhas alongside her cousin Sandra. The project yielded a remarkable discography with ten albums released over twenty-five years, charting hits like "Menina Apaixonada" and "Briga com Ela", which consolidated the duo as one of the great female references of the genre.
After ending her cycle with As Mineirinhas, Valéria spent ten years as part of the backing vocal team for the duo Guilherme & Santiago, a period in which she further expanded her experience on stages and in studios. In 2014, she launched her solo career with the release of the CD Valéria Xonado e Chorado, seeking to rescue the essence of traditional sertanejo modões. Her background and unmistakable timbre opened doors for important partnerships with fundamental names in caipira and sertanejo music, such as Trio Parada Dura and Roberta Miranda.
In 2018, the artist recorded and released the second DVD of her solo career, titled Amigos e Modão, reaffirming her importance on the national scene. The project featured appearances by major exponents of sertanejo music, including Leonardo, Eduardo Costa, Gusttavo Lima, and Bruno & Marrone. In addition to preserving classics of the sertanejo songbook, Valéria Barros continues to celebrate the achievements and the ever-growing space won by women in the contemporary sertanejo market, engaging in dialogue with new generations of artists such as Marília Mendonça.
