Biography

Vanessa Moreno was born in São Bernardo do Campo and began her musical journey at the age of fifteen, encouraged by her mother. Although she listened to rock in her youth, her contact with singing and Brazilian popular song deepened during guitar lessons, subsequently passing through Projeto Guri, the Municipal Music School of São Paulo, and Faculdade Souza Lima & Berklee. Before consolidating her solo career and acclaimed duo projects, she was a member of the vocal quartet Karallargá and participated in initiatives such as Chico Saraiva's Saraivada project, in addition to accumulating experiences in music festivals.

Throughout her career, the singer and instrumentalist stood out for her versatility in combining her voice with improvisations, vocal and body percussion, as well as exploring rhythms of popular music. She formed prolific partnerships, such as the duo with bassist Fi Maróstica and the work with pianist Salomão Soares on the album Chão de Flutuar, in addition to releasing solo albums praised by critics, such as Em Movimento, Sentido, and the album Solar, which received a Latin Grammy nomination and was featured among the best of the year by the São Paulo Association of Art Critics.

Recognized by great names in Brazilian music, such as Edu Lobo, who pointed her out as a revelation among the new voices of MPB, Vanessa has also collaborated with artists of the caliber of Gilberto Gil, Mônica Salmaso, Rosa Passos, and Criolo. Alongside her work on stage, she has also shared her knowledge by working as an educator in institutions such as the Souza Lima Conservatory and the Auditorio Ibirapuera Music School, consolidating her prominent role in the contemporary musical scene.
