Biography
Verônica Ferriani is a Brazilian singer-songwriter, instrumentalist, and music producer born in Ribeirão Preto, São Paulo, on February 7, 1978. Her musical journey began at the age of eight when she received a guitar and started taking lessons. At 17, she moved to São Paulo to study architecture and urbanism at USP, graduating in 2002. The following year, she returned to her passion for music, studying singing and making her professional debut in December 2003, invited by Chico Saraiva. She toured with Saraiva for two years, performing in various cities across Brazil. Ferriani's career as an interpreter gained momentum as she became known for her versatile voice and presence in Brazilian popular music, leading samba circles and performing in numerous shows. She has collaborated with a wide range of prominent Brazilian artists, including Beth Carvalho, Ivan Lins, Élton Medeiros, Francis Hime, Moacir Luz, Paulinho Moska, Maestro Spok, Jair Rodrigues, Tom Zé, and Marcelo D2. She also opened for artists like Jorge Ben, Luís Melodia, and Demônios da Garoa.
Ferriani released her debut solo album in 2009, featuring reinterpretations of MPB classics. Her first entirely self-authored album, "Porque a Boca Fala Aquilo Que O Coração Tá Cheio," was released in 2013, leading to a tour that spanned 13 countries. The album "Aquário" (2018) further solidified her reputation as a songwriter, earning her awards and critical acclaim. In 2021, she presented a series of shows titled "12 Anos em 6 Violões," with live recordings released digitally. In 2022, she released six albums, doubling her discography. Her most recent album, "Cochicho no Silêncio Vira Barulho, Irmã!" (2024), features a double-disc format with 20 original songs performed by and featuring over 30 female musicians. Ferriani's work often explores themes of urban life, transitions, belonging, and existential mysteries, balancing pop sensibilities with experimental touches.
