Biography
Sergio Vid, a prominent Brazilian rock singer and songwriter, is the driving force behind Vid & Sangue Azul. He first gained national recognition in 1981 as the enigmatic vocalist of the band Sangue da Cidade, known for their hit single "Brilhar a Minha Estrela." After leaving Sangue da Cidade in late 1983, Vid formed Vid & Sangue Azul, continuing his commitment to authentic rock and roll with a fierce and sharp edge. The project, which he envisioned as a fluid entity rather than a fixed band, invited musicians who best fit the compositions or performances. Vid & Sangue Azul's music is characterized by its fearless approach, eschewing commercial schemes and prioritizing the truth in his artistic communication. The band participated in the "Escalada do Rock" and was selected to perform at Rock in Rio II in 1991, sharing the stage with major rock artists. Their EP "Rio de Janeura / Criança Inconsequente" was released in 1986, and the band maintained a consistent presence on Rádio Fluminense FM for eight consecutive years. In 1997, Vid released his first CD, "A Bruxa," featuring tracks like "Sangue Azul," "A gente vai levando…," and "Rio de Janeura." Vid & Sangue Azul's work has also been recognized through compilations, including being featured on a CD of Rock in Rio highlights alongside international artists like Iron Maiden and Joe Cocker. Sergio Vid has also explored other projects, including a 2001 CD of international rock classics reinterpreted as "Sergio Vid," and more recently, "Rockin' Chico," which features his versions of Chico Buarque's songs in English. Vid & Sangue Azul's legacy is celebrated for its authenticity and enduring strength within the Brazilian rock scene.
