Virgínia Lane, born Virgínia Giacone in Rio de Janeiro, was a renowned Brazilian singer, actress, and vedette who became a prominent figure in the golden age of Brazilian radio, theater, and cinema. She began her artistic journey in 1935 as a singer on Rádio Mayrink Veiga's program Garota Bibelô, eventually performing at the famous Cassino da Urca alongside orchestras directed by Carlos Machado. Her magnetic stage presence and comedic timing led her to conquer the vibrant world of Teatro de Revista, earning her the prestigious title of "A Vedete do Brasil" from President Getúlio Vargas during her triumphant run at the Teatro Carlos Gomes.

Throughout her prolific career, Lane transitioned effortlessly to the silver screen, starring in numerous cinematic productions for studios like Cinédia and Atlântida. She frequently appeared in popular carnival comedies, sharing the screen with legendary performers such as Oscarito, Grande Otelo, and Zé Trindade. Her charismatic performances of festive marches and sambas cemented her status as a beloved icon of Brazilian popular culture, capturing the exuberant spirit of mid-20th-century entertainment.

In her later years, Lane continued to embrace her legacy as a pioneer of the stage, participating in television productions including the telenovela Belíssima alongside contemporaries like Carmem Verônica and Íris Bruzzi.
