Biography

Visão de Rua is an influential Brazilian rap group formed in 1994 in the city of Campinas, in the interior of the state of São Paulo. The original lineup featured the prominent vocalist and songwriter Dina Di, alongside Tum and DJ Guto. The collective gained national notoriety with the single "Confidências de uma Presidiária", a work that portrayed the daily life of the female prison system and helped consolidate the group's name in the 1990s rap scene.

Throughout its trajectory, the group stood out for addressing gender and class issues, criticizing society's patriarchal structure and opening space for the female voice in national rap, which was often marked by the silencing and exclusion of women. In 1998, they released their debut album, Herança do Vício, followed by Ruas de Sangue in 2001 and A Noiva do Thock in 2003. Visão de Rua's work was recognized with important awards, including two wins at the Prêmio Hutúz as "Best Female Group" in the years 2000 and 2001, as well as nominations in several categories in 2004.

The group's fourth and final album, O Poder nas Mãos, reached the public in 2007. Visão de Rua's history suffered an irreparable blow with the passing of Dina Di in 2010, a victim of a hospital infection after the birth of her second daughter. The pioneering contribution of Dina Di and the group remains a fundamental milestone for the construction of the identity of national rap, the hip hop movement, and feminist activism in Brazil, alongside key names in the genre such as Racionais MC's.
