Biography

Vultos was a Brazilian dark/gothic rock band formed in June 1998, with their first rehearsals in June 1999 and first performances in 2000. The band went through three distinct formations during its active years. They released three albums: "A Primeira Vez" (2002), "Cartas Para Ninguém" (2003), and "Andróides de Luto" (2005). Most of their performances took place in the cities of Gama, Santa Maria, and Valparaíso, which were the hometowns of the band members. They also had one performance in Goiânia and two concerts in Brasília, including opening for the band 5 Generais.

Their repertoire consisted of numerous songs, many of which were based on poems written by Fofão & Sarça. They also set to music a poem by Morpheus Affinito titled "Quando a escuridão dominar" and "O Riso" by Augusto dos Anjos. Vultos also performed three cover songs live: "Eterno Retorno" by Lupercais (the former band of guitarist and vocalist Fofão), "Só" by the São Paulo-based band Mercyland, and "Mariana" (a Portuguese version of The Sisters of Mercy's "Marian" by 5 Generais). The band officially disbanded in 2005.

Vultos' music was characterized by its dark and gothic influences, often incorporating poetic lyrics. The band was part of the alternative music scene in the Federal District of Brazil during the early 2000s. Their sound, while rooted in gothic rock, also touched upon post-punk elements. The band's lyrical themes often explored introspective and melancholic subjects, drawing inspiration from Brazilian poetry. Their limited but impactful discography remains a testament to their unique contribution to the Brazilian gothic rock scene.
