Biography

Wado, artistic name of Oswaldo Schlikmann Filho, was born in Florianópolis on July 5, 1977, but consolidated his musical career based in Maceió since childhood. A journalism graduate from the Federal University of Alagoas, the artist built a body of work marked by strong influences from samba, rock, and Brazilian popular music. He began his solo discography in 2001 with the release of Manifesto da Arte Periférica, which opened doors for performances at festivals across the country and abroad.

Throughout his career, Wado moved between solo projects and important collaborations, having joined the group Fino Coletivo in 2005 alongside Alvinho Cabral and Marcelo Frota. His solo discography spans several acclaimed albums, such as Samba 808 (2011) and Vazio Tropical (2013), works that featured the participation and production of expressive names in the national scene such as Zeca Baleiro and Marcelo Camelo.

The recognition of specialized criticism was further consolidated with albums like Precariado (2018) and O Clube dos Jovens de Ontem (2023), both highlighted in best-of-the-year lists by publications and critical associations. Maintaining a prolific production, Wado continues to expand his repertoire with works that dialogue with the plurality of MPB and reaffirm his relevance in contemporary Brazilian music.
