Biography

Waldir Anunciação was a Brazilian singer, best known as a founding member of the vocal group Golden Boys. Born in Rio de Janeiro in 1941, Anunciação was part of the group from its inception in the late 1950s until his departure in 2002 due to illness. The Golden Boys achieved significant fame during the Jovem Guarda movement in the 1960s, becoming one of the era's most popular acts.

The group, which also included his cousins Roberto, Ronaldo, and Renato Corrêa, was known for their harmonies and successful covers of international hits, as well as original songs like "Alguém na Multidão," "Pensando Nela," and "Fumacê." They were noted for bringing a unique vocal style to the Jovem Guarda scene, incorporating elements that hinted at soul music and even psychedelic sounds in later years. Anunciação also had a brief appearance in the film "O Adoravel Trapalhão."

Waldir Anunciação passed away on January 9, 2004, at the age of 62, after a battle with cancer. His contributions to Brazilian music, particularly through his work with the Golden Boys, solidified his place in the history of the Jovem Guarda and popular Brazilian music.
