Biography
Igor de Mello Alves, known artistically as Xará, is a Brazilian rapper born in 1979 in Rio de Janeiro. His musical journey began in childhood when, at the age of 12, he received a drum kit and started music lessons. At 16, he discovered rap and hip-hop culture, which led him to swap the drums for music production tutorials, seeking to replicate the sounds he heard. By 17, Xará was already writing his first lyrics, and some of his songs leaked on Napster, catching the attention of MC Marechal, who would later become his partner in musical projects.
Xará is recognized for his participation in the collective Quinto Andar, also formed by MC Marechal, Shawlin, De Leve, among others. Following the group's dissolution in 2005, Xará continued his career, recording with the Subsolo collective and, in 2009, releasing the song "Quem Tu É", part of the "Corpo Fechado Mixtape". In 2011, he released his first solo album, "Além da Razão", through the Blade Rio label, featuring collaborations with artists such as Emicida, Rashid, and MC Marechal, consolidating his presence in the national rap scene.
His music is marked by social criticism and influences from Brazilian music, with a characteristic "suingue" (swing), as well as literary references in his compositions. Xará also had his music video "Estação Quinze" broadcast on MTV Brasil in 2012, being pointed to as a promise in rap. His work demonstrates a strong connection with the Rio de Janeiro identity and the reality of the outskirts, addressing relevant themes for youth and society.
