Biography

Young Lights is a Brazilian indie rock and folk band formed in Belo Horizonte in 2013. The project initially started as a solo endeavor by Jay Horsth, who took on vocals, acoustic guitar, and piano, releasing an EP and a studio album early on. The group's sound gained recognition for its intensity combined with striking atmospheric moods.

With the consolidation of the project into a full band format, the lineup featured João Pesce on bass, Vitor "Boss" Ávila on guitar, and Gentil Nascimento on drums, who were responsible for recording the acclaimed self-titled album in 2017. This work brought the group national attention, being voted one of the best of the year by specialized portals such as Popload and Tenho Mais Discos Que Amigos, in addition to receiving praise from Rolling Stone Brasil magazine, which classified them as one of the main names in Brazilian indie rock.

Over the years, the lineup went through updates, integrating new musicians such as Bruno Mendes, Matheus Fleming, and Henrique Corrêa to continue the band's releases. The group expanded its discography with subsequent works like the album Somewhere Between Here and Now, maintaining collaborations with artists from the independent scene, such as Gustavo Bertoni.
