Biography

Osvaldo Yves Murad Passarell was born in São Paulo on February 8, 1969, and grew up to become a prominent Brazilian rock guitarist. Encouraged by his pianist mother, he began playing music at an early age and was already performing in school festivals by the time he was fourteen. In 1985, alongside his brother Pit Passarell, he co-founded the influential heavy metal band Viper, which became a significant name in the Brazilian heavy metal scene before concluding its initial run in 1999.

Transitioning from heavy metal to rock, Yves joined the well-known Brazilian rock band Capital Inicial in 2001, replacing guitarist Loro Jones. He quickly contributed to the group's songwriting, co-writing the successful tracks "Respirar Você" and "A Ressurreição" for the 2002 album Rosas e Vinho Tinto. Alongside his musical career, he has also ventured into writing, publishing books such as Temporada na Estrada: Histórias de uma Banda de Rock and Os Últimos Dias Perfeitos.

Throughout his career, Yves has maintained ties with his metal roots, participating in Viper reunion shows following their 2012 return and contributing guitar work to their later releases, including the 2023 album Timeless. His enduring presence in both heavy metal and mainstream rock has solidified his reputation within the Brazilian music industry, frequently collaborating with artists like Felipe Machado. He continues to perform and record, maintaining a long-standing tenure with Capital Inicial.
