Biography

Z'África Brasil is a Brazilian rap and hip-hop group formed in 1995 in the city of São Paulo. The name "Z'África" is a reference to Zumbi dos Palmares, one of the greatest leaders of the resistance against slavery in Brazil. Since its founding, the group has stood out for its politicized and conscious lyrics, which address social, racial, and historical issues, with a strong connection to Afro-Brazilian culture and the resistance of urban peripheries.

Throughout its trajectory, Z'África Brasil has released several albums and compilations, both in Brazil and abroad, consolidating its importance in the national rap scene. Among its most notable works are "Antigamente Quilombos, Hoje Periferia" (2002), "Tem Cor Age" (2006), and the "Ritual" trilogy, which celebrates hip-hop culture and Brazilian identity. The group has collaborated with several renowned artists, such as Zeca Baleiro, Nação Zumbi, Assassin, and Emicida, further enriching its sound and reach.

In addition to music production, Z'África Brasil is also dedicated to social and educational projects in peripheral communities of São Paulo, promoting workshops, courses, and seminars. This work demonstrates the group's commitment to using culture and art as tools for social transformation and empowerment, reinforcing its role as an important cultural agent and resistance figure.
