Biography

Zé Mulato e Cassiano is a sertanejo duo formed by brothers José das Dores Fernandes (Zé Mulato) and João Monteiro da Costa Neto (Cassiano). Born in Passabém, Minas Gerais, the brothers moved to Brasília in 1969, where they began their artistic career.

The duo is known for defending root caipira music, with lyrics that address rural daily life, nature, and social themes, always with a touch of humor and poetry. Throughout their career, Zé Mulato e Cassiano have released several albums and gained national recognition, including the Sharp Award and the Brazilian Music Award.
