Biography

Zelito Miranda, artistic name of the Brazilian singer born in Barrocas, Bahia, began his artistic journey in childhood by playing the triangle at eight years of age. In his youth, he moved to Salvador to study theater at Teatro Vila Velha, acting both on stage and in film before consolidating his career in music at age twenty-seven, a period when he joined the group Novos Bárbaros and flirted with MPB and rock.

Over time, he began to dedicate himself to forró, establishing himself as the "King of Seasoned Forró" (Rei do Forró Temperado), a style that blended northeastern tradition with innovations in arrangements and instrumentation. He was strongly influenced by icons such as Luiz Gonzaga and Genival Lacerda, in addition to leading the traditional project "Forró no Parque", which made room for new talents in the Bahian music scene.

Throughout his career, he released several prominent works, including the album Forró Porreta, awarded as the best São João record, and the single "Nasci pra Cantar". Zelito Miranda passed away in August 2022, leaving a striking legacy for northeastern culture and being widely mourned by admirers and fellow professionals.
