Biography

Zezé Di Camargo, born Mirosmar José de Camargo, is a highly influential Brazilian singer and songwriter best known as one half of the famous sertanejo duo Zezé Di Camargo & Luciano alongside his brother Luciano Camargo. Born in Pirenópolis, Goiás, he began his musical journey in childhood, initially forming a duo with his late brother Emival before experiencing various musical iterations, including the trio Os Caçulas do Brasil and the duo Zazá & Zezé. Throughout the 1980s, he built a solid reputation as a prolific songwriter, penning hits for prominent acts such as Leandro & Leonardo, Chitãozinho & Xororó, and Chrystian & Ralf, before releasing solo projects.

In 1990, Zezé partnered with his younger brother Welson, who adopted the stage name Luciano. The duo shot to nationwide stardom following the release of their debut album in 1991, propelled by the massive success of the iconic track "É o Amor". Throughout the 1990s and 2000s, Zezé Di Camargo & Luciano became driving forces in popularizing and modernizing sertanejo music, selling tens of millions of records and cementing their status as cultural icons in Brazil. Beyond his vocal performances, Zezé's distinct tenor spinto voice and his exceptional songwriting have left a permanent mark on the genre's history.

Over the decades, Zezé's career has been marked by remarkable achievements, artistic resilience in overcoming vocal cord challenges, and occasional controversies reflecting his prominent public profile.
