Biography

Zuco 103 is a pioneering international band formed in 1999 that blends electronic beats with traditional Brazilian rhythms. The group consists of Brazilian vocalist Lilian Vieira, Dutch drummer Stefan Kruger, and German keyboardist Stefan Schmid, creating a multicultural soundscape deeply rooted in the Brazilian musical tradition. Vieira originally moved to the Netherlands from Brazil in 1998 to study music at the Rotterdam Conservatory, where she met her future bandmates and laid the groundwork for their debut album.

Their breakthrough came with the 1999 release of their debut album "Outro Lado," which established their unique fusion of electro-pop, samba, and bossa nova. The band quickly gained critical acclaim, winning the prestigious Dutch Heineken Crossover Award in 2000 and following up with successful releases such as "Tales of High Fever" in 2002 and "Whaa!" in 2005. Throughout their career, they have embraced various musical influences, incorporating elements of rock, soul, and jazz into their electronic framework.

Known for their vibrant interpretations of classic Brazilian repertoire, Zuco 103 has recorded covers of iconic songs by legendary artists like Jorge Benjor, Jorge Mautner, and Nélson Jacobina. Their innovative approach aligns them with contemporary Brazilian crossover movements represented by acts like Bossacucanova.
