Biografia

Ivo Perelman é um saxofonista brasileiro de free jazz, nascido em São Paulo em 12 de janeiro de 1961. Sua carreira musical é marcada por uma produtividade impressionante e uma abordagem inovadora que mescla temas folclóricos brasileiros com free jazz e improvisação.

Desde jovem, Perelman demonstrou aptidão musical, aprendendo a tocar violão clássico, violoncelo, clarinete, trombone e piano. Aos 19 anos, adotou o saxofone tenor como seu instrumento principal. Após se mudar para os Estados Unidos, estudou brevemente na Berklee College of Music, mas é amplamente considerado um músico autodidata. Sua jornada o levou a Los Angeles em 1986 e, posteriormente, a Nova York, onde se estabeleceu como uma figura proeminente na cena do jazz de vanguarda.

Ao longo de sua carreira, Perelman lançou mais de 50 álbuns, muitos deles em colaboração com renomados músicos do jazz contemporâneo, como o pianista Matthew Shipp, com quem mantém uma parceria de longa data e extremamente prolífica. Sua obra discográfica abrange uma vasta gama de experimentações sonoras, explorando as fronteiras do free jazz, da música improvisada e incorporando elementos de diversas tradições musicais. Além de sua carreira musical, Perelman também é um artista visual reconhecido, cujas pinturas e esboços já foram exibidos em diversas exposições.
